Lindsey’s practice embraces an intermedia approach that utilizes drawing, printmaking, and ceramics in her explorations into how body image affects self-worth.
Charley works out of her studio located in the North End of Halifax and lives in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Lindsey Guile is a body and fat-positive artist exploring concepts of self-image through the lens of contemporary feminist theory. In 2012, she received the Charlotte Wilson-Hammond/ Visual Arts Nova Scotia Award and the Lieutenants Governor Award presented by the Nova Scotia Talent Trust.Ĭharley is Regular Part-Time Faculty at NSCAD University where she teaches drawing and printmaking. In 2014, Charley was included in as one of the artists in the Blouin ARTINFO's Top 30 under 30 in Canada.
Her work has been exhibited at the Guangdong Museum of Art (Guangzhou, China), He Xiangning Art Museum (Shenzhen, China), MSVU Art Gallery (Halifax NS), SPACE Gallery (Portland, Maine), Free Will North Church Project Space (Eastport, Maine), The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (Halifax, NS), and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 (Halifax, NS). i was granted a month at this printmaking-oriented studio in picton, ontario canada, and spent july of 2010 exploring prince edward count, painting, and etching. To date, her work includes large-scale monoprints of historic building facades, intimate portraits of vanishing Arctic ice and small-scale hand casts that record the space between clasped hands of new immigrants.Ĭharley holds a Master of Fine Arts (2014) from the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2008) from NSCAD University in Halifax.Ĭharley has been an artist-in-residence at The Tides Institute and Museum of Art (2017), The Arctic Circle Program (2014), The Banff Centre (2013), The Vermont Studio Centre (2013), Spark Box Studios (2013), The Klondike Institute for Arts and Culture (2012).Ĭharley’s work is in various collections including: The Canada Council Art Bank, Global Affairs Canada, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Art Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring watercolour paints and brushes, as well as printed/drawn images (8'x10') to use as source material (for tracing) if they wish. Each participant will have time to print at least 2 plates. A buyer bought a gift from this shop and gave it a 5-star.
